take two minutes.

take two minutes tomorrw, to remember those who have gone before.

If you haven't before, go to a Cenotaph service. Look those men and women in the eye, and say 'thank you.'

But damn you if you don't at least take those two minutes.

My problem with Remembrance Day is the same problem I have with Valentines Day: why do we only do it one day a year?

we shouldn't only do it one day a year; the other 364 days it's up to us to remember in our own way.
I find that Remembrance Day is an appropriate, structured way of commemorating those who have died because that sort of liturgy is lacking in our everyday lives.

And I intensely dislike Valentine's Day. Closely followed by Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Groundhog Day, National Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day, and any other manufactured 'holiday' with little purpose or meaning beyond trying to bride someone with affection.

NATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY IS NOT A MANUFACTURED HOLIDAY!!! It is a celebration of a dying linguistic tradition! And how are we suppose to know what the weather will be like for the next 6 weeks if we don't celebrate Groundhog Day?!

Next thing I know, you're going to tell me that GIS Day ( http://www.gisday.com/abou/index.html ) is not a real holiday either!
